"Integration" is a broad term with many meanings. In this case, we are discussing SSO or "single sign-on", which is the only setup that may be possible between EdReady and Google Classroom at this time.
First, we need to clarify what Google Classroom is used for. Google Classroom is a way to manage web-based content (links), specialized apps, and Google's own tools for the classroom. It is not a full-featured Learning Management System (LMS) or Student Information System (SIS).
The type of setup we discuss here relates strictly to how students register and sign in to EdReady.
The standard method is that students simply self-register: they create their own account with their email address as the username, and then they log in directly to their school's custom EdReady site. The school can provide a link to the EdReady site anywhere they wish: in their LMS, their SIS, a teacher's own website, or Google Classroom.
Some schools like to set up single sign-on (SSO) using their own LMS or SIS as the "identity provider". This allows students to log in once to the LMS or SIS, and then click on a link within that system and be automatically registered and logged in to EdReady without creating a separate username (email address) and password.
Students do have an identity in Google Classroom by which they log in (their Google username and password) and as such, we believe there is the potential to use that identity to sign in to EdReady. So the effect of "integrating" EdReady with Google Classroom would be simply to have students log in with their Google credentials instead of a separate email address and password. There is no further "integration" to consider at this time.
We have not been able to test this with Google Classroom, because the steps require administrative access to a Google Classroom account. We expect that it would be possible to create an SSO connection between your students' Google accounts and EdReady via Google Classroom. However, we would need to work directly with your Google Classroom administrator to find out and we cannot guarantee the results. Please reach out to us via the "Help" button at the bottom of the screen if you are interested in testing this SSO setup with your Google Classroom account.
